Building Europe’s Sovereign AI, Data, federated cloud-edge Infrastructure to enable Europe's economic growth

CISERO WORKSHOP
CISERO spillover event Budapest

From results to adoption

Europe is developing a new generation of cloud, edge, data and AI technologies through the Important Project of Common European Interest on Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services (IPCEI-CIS). With projects now producing tangible results, the priority is moving these technologies into wider use: connecting the providers behind them with industrial users, new partners and Member States that have not yet taken part in the initiative.

This afternoon event is designed around solutions rather than project reporting. Leaders from selected 8ra/IPCEI-CIS projects will present what they have developed, where it can be applied and what kind of collaboration they are seeking. Participants can expect short technology and use-case presentations, live demonstrations, industry perspectives and dedicated time for questions, networking and matchmaking.

The event is organised by CISERO, in cooperation with E-Group.

Who should attend

Companies looking to adopt, integrate or scale advanced cloud, edge, data and AI solutions will meet the teams developing them and learn what can be tested or deployed today. Clusters, digital innovation hubs, computing infrastructures and other intermediaries will find results they can bring to the companies in their networks. Public authorities and policymakers, particularly from Member States not yet participating in IPCEI-CIS, will gain a clear view of what is ready for deployment, how it relates to national priorities and how new actors can engage through 8ra.

Outreach places particular emphasis on participants from Hungary, Austria and Slovakia, and the event welcomes both organisations already involved in IPCEI-CIS and those encountering it for the first time.

Speakers will be announced soon.

17:10-17:50Panel 3: What comes next? Policy conditions for wider adoption and growth
17:50-18:00Conclusions and follow-up

Panel 1: From results to industrial value

Two technology perspectives from the projects, a company already using or testing the results and a prospective industrial user from outside IPCEI-CIS will examine what the technologies offer in practice. The discussion addresses which business problems can already be solved, what combining AI, data and federated cloud-edge capabilities adds, how sovereignty and control over data matter for users, and what a company would need before testing or adopting a solution.

Panel 2: Opening the ecosystem

This panel brings together a company with collaboration experience, a prospective participant, an ecosystem intermediary and a representative of 8ra. It looks at how companies became involved, what participation required and what they gained, what would make involvement worthwhile for newcomers, and what a new participant can access today, under which conditions and through which contact point.

Panel 3: What comes next

European and national policymakers, an industrial delivery partner and an external company or ecosystem representative will draw on the afternoon’s discussions to identify the barriers that require policy action, the support needed to move from demonstration to deployment, and how IPCEI-CIS results should connect with other European AI, data and infrastructure initiatives. The panel closes by setting out priorities for the next twelve months and who should take them forward.

Demonstrations and matchmaking

The demonstration break gives participants time to see the technologies at work, speak directly with technical teams and arrange relevant introductions. Conversations can continue after the programme, and all afternoon participants will have access to follow-up introductions with the projects.
