EVENTS FOR THE COMMUNITY
Shanghai 2026

Shanghai will host KubeCon + CloudNativeCon + OpenInfra Summit + PyTorch Conference China from 7–9 September 2026, bringing together adopters, technologists, and open source contributors from across the region under one roof. The event unites the CNCF, OpenInfra Foundation, and PyTorch Foundation communities, with sessions spanning Kubernetes, OpenStack, and PyTorch — three of the most active open source projects globally — alongside dedicated tracks on agentic AI, AI infrastructure and accelerators, edge computing, security, and platform engineering. It is organised by the Linux Foundation's LF Open Source, LLC, and draws strategic and diamond-level sponsorship from major Chinese and international cloud and hardware players, reflecting the scale of industry backing behind the region's open source infrastructure agenda.

For the IPCEI-CIS community, this event is a valuable barometer rather than a direct touchpoint. Its programme — covering federated GPU scheduling, sovereign-style multi-cluster orchestration, edge-cloud continuum architectures, and agentic AI running on Kubernetes at production scale — mirrors many of the technical and strategic questions IPCEI-CIS partners are working through on European sovereign cloud infrastructure. Tracking how China's open source and cloud native ecosystem is converging around these same themes offers useful competitive and technological context for the initiative's own roadmap, even where the geographic and policy contexts differ substantially.

CISERO itself will not be attending or participating in this event. Its relevance to the CISERO community is as a monitoring and awareness opportunity: recordings will be made publicly available on the CNCF YouTube channel within two weeks of the event, offering a low-effort way for interested IPCEI-CIS technical managers and exploitation coordinators to stay informed on parallel developments in cloud native and AI infrastructure outside the European context, without requiring direct engagement.
