Start of the Cyber Security Awareness Month
3, October, 2024
The European Cybersecurity Month is a campaign to promote safe online behaviour and increase public understanding of cybersecurity. Every October, hundreds of activities, such as conferences, workshops, training sessions, webinars, and presentations, occur around Europe to educate the public about online threats and the relevance of digital safety. This year, the European Commission themed the Cyber Security Month #ThinkB4Uclick and emphasises safeguarding against social engineering, a developing practice where cybercriminals employ phishing emails, fraudulent offers, or impersonation to lure individuals into completing specific online tasks or disclosing private or sensitive information.
In the context of the IPCEIS-CIS Initiative (Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services), which is a key initiative enhancing Europe’s digital sovereignty through a sustainable Multi-Provider Cloud-Edge Continuum involving 12 Member States and over 100 partners. It promotes cybersecurity awareness and best practices in line with EU guidelines to improve resilience against online threats. The IPCEIS-CIS partners value the strict and correct adaption of the guidelines and frameworks of the European Cyber Security Strategy and the EU Cyber Solidarity Act.
CISERO proudly supports, advises, and supervises the implementation of those strategies and acts in all activities regarding the IPCEIS-CIS. Through the coordination of initiatives among member states, businesses, research institutes, and government agencies, CISERO plays a critical role in strengthening Europe's digital resilience. Specifically, CISERO plans to work back-to-back with European Cybersecurity Competence Centres and the Network of National Coordination Centres as well as with the Network of European Digital Innovation Hubs. Such a coordinated effort will guarantee that security is a top priority while making investments in cloud and edge technologies. This will in turn safeguard Europe's digital infrastructure, ensuring that the implemented solutions are not only creative and energy-efficient but also resistant to possible cyberattacks. Because of this, CISERO strive to propel the development of robust cybersecurity guidelines, industry best practices, and cooperative frameworks. By empowering stakeholders to create and apply digital technologies with strong security features, this strategy will protect Europe's digital sovereignty and bolster its position as a pioneer in safe digital infrastructures.
